Happy Hump Day!!

Have you ever wondered why they call it that? I mean, I don't know about you, but a day named for humping seems a little silly. Maybe I just need to get my mind out of the gutter. I'm sure that's not what they meant when those geniuses came up with the nickname "Hump Day."

Anyway. Nice tangent, don't you think? I'm going to try to avoid tangents for the remainder of this post. I'm not making any promises, though. Speaking of tangents... best pickup line ever: I wish I was your derivative so that I could lie tangent to your curves. That's how Mike got me. Except not really.

So... where was I? Right - bucket lists. I don't really have one, but I decided to link up to the vlog thingy anyway. Just because I thought I could think of one on the fly. Not so sure I was right.

Finally. I hear that Anthropologie is like, a blogger heaven... am I right? I've never set foot in one of those stores, but after browsing a little, I kinda wish I could enter the giveaway I'm about to surprise you all with.

Sue has so generously offered to award one of you loverly people not one, but two amazing prizes. First, we have a $25 gift card to Anthropologie (aka Blogger Heaven). Second, we have a large ad space (200x300) on her blog! Enter to win using the rafflecopter widget below(Note: You must complete both mandatory entries, or you cannot win).

I was about to head to bed for the night... then you posted this. And I wanted to be the FIRST to comment. So, 3,000 awesome points for the 7-ish minutes of fun, first off.

Second off, I have a lot to say, but most of it would be a repeat of other things. I'll try to keep it to things I haven't said to you before.

1) Antarctica = awesome. However, I also propose adding the North Pole, even though it isn't technically land mass. It's just cool. Literally.

2) The Hangover and Bridesmaids were great movies. I can't believe they have pulled off 3, and they all manage to be funny. And the songs are works of art.

3) You can bike across America to raise money for Habitat for Humanity. They also encourage you to stop at building sites along the way. I think they provide you with a bike if you raise a certain amount of money??? I looked into it in college, so I don't really remember. Either way, it's a neat thing.

Cute outfit Alyx! Are those the bracelets you got from winning the giveaway on my blog or did you win 2 Cents of Style giveaways?! Anyway, love everything about this outfit seriously and your braid is AMAZING!

My hair needs to grow NOW so I can do a braid like that.

I love your outfit- the chambray and red pants are such a cute combo! And I LOVE your Katniss braid! For some reason the vlog isn't working... just a heads up!

Lindsay said...

Love this look especially that braid. You should do a tutorial! It's gorgeous!

oh alyx, i've missed you and your (RED) chicken legs.

i'm shocked that this is the first time i've seen the katniss braid in blogland.

Anthropologie has some totally cute and adorable stuff, but man are they a budget buster! I mean really. thank goodness for all those anthro-esque tutorials out there on the internet! 'cause I definitely don't need to be spending $100+ on a dress.

Unknown said...

I just adore you so much Miss Alyx. Your bucket list vlog made my day. Can we both go to counseling together for this whole Riding-An-Elephant-titis???

Cute WIWW! I love the Katniss braid. And girl, I cannot get with the whole Anthro thing, I mean I've seen the stuff they sell and it's SUPER cute but so incredibly out of the realm that I will pay for clothing right now. haha

yay for 3k points! \o/ I must admit I didn't even know what a bucket list was. but if all are so funny as yours is, they must be really cool! btw, I also have acne and I'm even a bit older than you are. I always thought they're going to disappear the next year, but they are still here. <.<
oh, I love the Katniss braid. and the giveaway, although I've never purchased anything from Anthropologie, but I'm sure I could find something useful since I'm a woman. :)

Amanda G. said...

Claiming my awesome points, yay!

I still get acne, and I'm almost 28. I don't think it ever really goes away.

Also: I would love to ride all of the animals you mentioned plus a panda, or just have a tiger for a pet like Jasmine.

I think being able to say you've been to all 7 continents would be cool... but I don't actually ever want to go to Antarctica. Because it's cold as balls, and I don't like the cold. Maybe if it was like a very brief trip where I only had to walk around for 5 minutes to 'claim' it and could then get back on the plane.

ALYX. THANK YOU FOR COMPLIMENTING MY OPENING TANGENT... COMING FROM YOU THAT MEANS A LOT, SINCE YOU HAVE THE MOST AWESOME TANGENTS OF THEM ALL. AND I MEAN THAT. WITH NO SARCARSM. I ENJOY YOUR TANGENTS THROUGH AND THROUGH AND I HOPE THAT THAT COMES ACROSS IN THE WAY I'VE DECIDED TO GO ALL CAPS ON THIS COMMENT'S ASS.

ALSO, I ABSOLUTELY LOVED YOUR VLOG. I WATCHED THE WHOLE THING. AND AT FIRST IT WAS FOR THE POINTS, BUT THEN IT QUICKLY BECOME FOR THE PURE ENTERTAINMENT.

I WOULD LIKE TO RIDE A TIGER TOO. SO LONG AS HE DOESN'T RUN TOO MUCH AND THEN GET VERY HUNGRY AFTERWARDS.... and I'm done with the all caps now, because it's making me feel overwhelmed. Hey, I was thinking maybe we could do a triathlon together? I ONLY do the running part, so together we could finish one. I'll just tag you after the running part is over and you can finish it off with the swimming and biking. Sound good?

In short, thanks for linking up. You da bestest.

Love your outfit! And I could listen to you for hours.
I would love to have an Irish wolf dog and live on a farm too.
Riding on a kangaroo? Haha.

Emily said...

You're my favourite! And I want my 3000 awesome points please and thank you.

So first of all yes. I want to ride a tiger. Actually I am afraid of tigers. I was up close and personal with one in Thailand and I didn't like it. However riding an ostrich would be cool don't you think?

And I can't wait until the day that I read in the newspaper about the 90 year old grandma that biked from Cali to NYC.

Thanks so much for liking up with us. You're amazing. AMAZING!

Kym said...

Oh, so much to say. You know, I used to think the same thing about hump day until it was explained to me that Wednesday is the middle, or hump, of the week. As in, it's downhill to the weekend from here - or something like that. And then I felt a lot less uncomfortable every time I heard someone say "hump day." (But in all honesty, it still just sounds so wrong.)

Anyway, I kinda know someone who biked across America! He's a friend of a friend, and I met him once when I was in Florida, but didn't know at the time that he had ridden his bike down there from NJ!!! He actually kept a whole blog about it, and if I remember right, maybe even wrote a book. But sadly I can't remember his name. Cool story, though, right? And true.

Um...your obsession to ride animals reminds me of my obsession to pet animals, but only ones that are just outside living their lives. Not ones in a petting zoo or something; that's cheating. So far, I've gotten to pet 2 groundhogs and I'm immensely proud of this. I'm currently working up to a skunk that lives around my yard. One day, Stinky, one day... Oh, and last Christmas I met a squirrel outside who ran up to me and touched my hand before running away. I was beaming all day long. So...that had nothing to do with your bucket list, but sometimes I get distracted by tangents of my own.

Anyhoo, thanks for hosting this awesome giveaway! Happy Hump Day (ick)!

You are hilarious. I think I want to ride an elephant too. I need to redo my bucket list now that I am watching all these videos! I like your ambitious bucket list! I don't think I'll ever like running... I wish I had a bad knees excuse ;)

I just had a major blonde moment and was like OMG I saw that exact outfit on Pinterest earlier today. Then a couple minutes later made the connection it was you, duh.

I also must say I'm so impressed how well you have kept up with blogging since you've been home - A++++ to you!

A girl I was a YCL for just biked across America! She's 17 and she and her crew biked across the states earlier this summer to raise money for organ donation. They did it in like six days. Pretty freakin' cool, if you ask me!

Sara Louise said...

I'm not feeling very awesome today :(
But, I can tell you this... Hump Day is called Hump Day because you get over the 'hump' of the week, as in the middle.
Now get your mind out of the gutter!

I'm slow and late to the party but I wanted to say how much I LOVE your hair in those pics! Such a fun braid :)
