LBD (and all other dresses, really) with a big Belly

Holy moly, I'm a blogging freak! Granted, I'm writing up all of these posts in one day, so that's why you're getting a bunch in one week. ANYWAY.

Anyway. Remember that one time I told you I was going to do a sort of "series" on how to make your pre-pregnancy clothes last longer? Well, I have pictures on my phone that I don't think I will EVER make it through, so I'm gonna throw some at you now.
First, we have the little black dress. Recognize this one? No? Well, I wore it here. Let me begin by saying this: Not all LBD's will work with a pregnant belly (duh?). Mine is a flowy cotton (wonderful, wonderful cotton) with an empire waist. Pop on some leggings, add a scarf, sweater, and boots, and VOILA! Perfect pregnancy outfit.

Moving on...
Second, we have any pregnant woman's best friend - the maxi. If you don't recognize this one, it's the one I made and wore here. Super easy to make - takes about 30 minutes, and I highly recommend it. ANYWAY. Pop on a belt with that sucker to emphasize your growing belly, and you will get all sorts of compliments. A maxi dress can work for you up until the end, my friends.

So. Dresses. YAY!!! Let me tell you what, people - dresses can (and should) be your best friends throughout your pregnancy. Whether it's the middle of summer or the dead of winter, you can wear a dress! In the winter, just add a pair of maternity leggings (like I said, the only necessary maternity clothing item) and some boots, and you are good to go!

Any questions?

I'm too Lazy to Title this Post

Happy Hump Day... only a few hours late!!!

As previously stated... I'm doing this maternity "fashion" thing where I avoid wearing maternity clothing for as long as humanly possible. So far, so good. So... here we go - week two of this thing. You can see last week's feeble attempt at fashion here.

Photos taken at 27.5 weeks:
shirt target scarf f21 leggings gordmans boots gojane leg warmers german store
NOTE: These are maternity leggings. They are a staple in any pregnant woman's wardrobe, and probably one of the only items of maternity clothing I will ever tell you you have to have. They are $20, which is pricey in my books, but holy moly, they are soooo worth every penny.

Now for the tip of the day - flowy shirts and tunics. Last week, it was all about flowy skirts hiked up to your boobs, but let's not underestimate the value of a cheapo shirt, okay? This shirt was $3 from Target on clearance, and no - not in the maternity section. When your belly is too big for all your "baggy" pre-pregnancy shirts, turn to your pre-pregnancy tunics and wear them as shirts. I'm willing to bet that this tunic will get me to about 35 weeks. I'll let you know.

Pros: The leggings. And the tunic. And the scarf. And EVERYTHING! I honestly was so comfy in this outfit that I have no complaints. None. And I got tons of compliments on that cheapy shirt. Win/win/win.

Is that Leopard Print? Rawr.

Hey Guys!!!

So I am working on composing a part 4 for my "What to Expect" series, but, because it's going to be all about dressing a huge prego belly, I figure I should get a little bit more experience with that before I share my infinite wisdom with you all (yes, that whole "infinite wisdom" thing was sarcastic).

While I'm off growing a huge belly and getting frustrated beyond belief trying to clothe myself, I wanted to document some of the maternity outfits that have (and have not) worked for me. Unless otherwise noted, I am not wearing maternity clothing. I have made it a goal to get through this pregnancy without buying an entire closetful of maternity clothing.

I'm doing this in the hopes that I can help myself and others find ways to still look halfway decent while feeling like a beached whale without spending hundreds of dollars on stretchy shirts and granny jeans.

If there's a piece that I've worn on the blog pre-pregnancy, I will have a link to that post to show how versatile different items in your closet can be.

So without further ado... Here's outfit numero uno (worn at 26 weeks, six days).
shirt TJ Maxx cardigan ?? skirt&belt F21 (also worn pre-pregnancy here) shoes four star bag Gordman's
It's pretty obvious that this is not an "I'm going to go run errands all day" outfit; instead, it's something nice to wear to work or church.

Pros: The fact that my skirt is pulled up above my bump hides the fact that my shirt is too small to cover my belly. If you have "flowy" skirts with elastic waistbands, use them to your advantage! Pull those puppies up to your boobs, slap on a belt, and call it good - it accentuates your bump and hides the fact that your normal clothes are too small. WIN.

Cons: After being on my feet for a couple of hours, I was done with those shoes. I wouldn't mind wearing them if I was just going to sit all day, but I would definitely take a pass on the four inch heels if you're going to be standing for more than an hour or two (can I get a DUH from all you ladies out there? thanks).

The Verdict: I'd wear this again... and again... and again. This outfit was extremely comfortable - I didn't feel restricted in my own movement at all and baby had plenty of room to move around. I felt a little less like a beached whale and a little more like a hot mama-to-be.

Hey guys!!

So... I'm not gonna lie. It's 3 am here and I'm taking a break from unpacking boxes to write this blog post. I know I've been a crappy blogger the past couple days (read: I have over 100 emails in my inbox that have yet to be answered), but sometimes life comes first. Bah.

I have a picture of us in front of the house standing next to the sold sign, but IDK where my camera cable is, so that's just gonna have to wait.

I forgot to take "before" pictures of the house, so all you kiddies get is the after, which will really be a before because we're probably going to slowly fix the things we don't like. I'm really just rambling because I'm so friggin' tired and exhausted and haven't eaten anything except the most unhealthy chicken sandwich ever.

ANYWAY. As many of you know, it's the 25th. Which means that it's time for the Christmas in July Linkup! I was paired up with Brielle, and I was pretty excited, because I sort of "knew" her from reading her blog.

I have pictures of what I sent her, but they're on my phone, and I have no clue where that is, so you get the one that I just pulled off of Instagram.
Underneath that card and tissue paper was some nail polish, a couple of pairs of earrings, a small notebook and pens, and an index card holder to put recipes in (with a couple of my favorites). I think that's it.

Now for the good stuff... I was so excited when I got this package in the mail, I almost forgot to take a picture! I remembered, though. Unfortunately, it has my address, and I'm too tired to go into photoshop to blur it out.
Oh, well. Brielle sent me a beautiful scarf, some nail polish, some tic-tacs (what are you saying, Brielle? You can smell my almost morning breath all the way out there in Utah? haha, jk), some bangle bracelets, and the chapstick that saved my life about an hour ago (and is about to save it again).
So there you have it.

SIDE NOTE: go here to see if you won the Anthropologie gift card & ad space from Sue.

If you participated in Christmas in July, feel free to link up and share what you gave/received. If you did not receive a package and your partner has not contacted you with an explanation, send me the name and email address of your partner, and I will personally contact them to see what is going on. If you did not send a package, that is NOT fair or okay, and you will be banned from further gift exchanges. There were far too many of those, and, to be perfectly honest, I'm a little (okay a lot) ticked about it.

That being said... go ahead and link up, and visit others while you're at it!!!

Happy Hump Day!!

Have you ever wondered why they call it that? I mean, I don't know about you, but a day named for humping seems a little silly. Maybe I just need to get my mind out of the gutter. I'm sure that's not what they meant when those geniuses came up with the nickname "Hump Day."

Anyway. Nice tangent, don't you think? I'm going to try to avoid tangents for the remainder of this post. I'm not making any promises, though. Speaking of tangents... best pickup line ever: I wish I was your derivative so that I could lie tangent to your curves. That's how Mike got me. Except not really.

So... where was I? Right - bucket lists. I don't really have one, but I decided to link up to the vlog thingy anyway. Just because I thought I could think of one on the fly. Not so sure I was right.

Finally. I hear that Anthropologie is like, a blogger heaven... am I right? I've never set foot in one of those stores, but after browsing a little, I kinda wish I could enter the giveaway I'm about to surprise you all with.

Sue has so generously offered to award one of you loverly people not one, but two amazing prizes. First, we have a $25 gift card to Anthropologie (aka Blogger Heaven). Second, we have a large ad space (200x300) on her blog! Enter to win using the rafflecopter widget below(Note: You must complete both mandatory entries, or you cannot win).

Wishes are not just for Birthdays.

Yo ladies (and gents, if you're reading)

Let me just tell you how much I am loving the warm weather and sunshine. I fully plan on spending the day outside. Or doing something fun. I'm not really sure yet. Maybe all of the above. Anyway, today I was thinking about how awesome it would be to have a genie to grant me three wishes (don't ask me why - I'm not sure why these things happen in my head).

Basically, it would be awesome. You know what's even more awesome, though? The things I'd wish for.

1. An all-expenses-paid-all-around-the-world trip. I'd hit up every country. It'd be awesome. I'd take bajillions of pictures, and I'd never lack blogging inspiration again.
2. A money tree. Sorry, guys. I hate to be this materialistic, but moolah is important, and a money tree would be frickin' awesome. Can you imagine a life where you never have to worry about bills? Amazing, right?
3. Harsher penalties for parole violators. If you know what I'm talking about, comment below and we'll be besties.

And... now you can read all about one of my bloggy friend Amy's wishes!

Isn't her sense of style so fun?! I think I am totally gonna need one of those maxi skirts, stat!! And how awesome is it that she lives with kangaroos (okay, she probably doesn't live with Kangaroos, but she lives in Australia, so she lives closer to them than I do)?!

Favorite Things Friday

Hi friends!!

Are you all as excited as I am about the fact that it's finally Friday?? If not, you are probably definitely smoking crack crazy.

Anyway... I've got a list of Favorite Things this week, and there's really no theme - it's just a bunch of random really cool stuff.

1. Peanut Butter Frosting. Holy balls, you people know me well. Kylie emailed me with this recipe, and it is to die for. It is also extremely rich, which keeps me from eating the whole pan of brownies in one sitting.
2. YouTube video converter. Ummm am I the only one living in the stone age, completely unaware that you can convert YouTube videos to mp3s? Well, whatever. If you're slower than me, check this out.

3. Coral Jeans. I ordered a pair in like, March, and they were on backorder. I got an email yesterday telling me that they've been shipped!! YAY!!
4. Songs about California. My 8th grade English class is doing a unit on California, so I put together a CD with a ton of songs about California. We're going to do an analysis of "It Never Rains in Southern California" in class tomorrow.

5. Space Bags. I could kiss whoever invented these puppies. As I'm packing our lives into 4 full-size suitcases and 2 carry-ons, I'm reminded of how awesome these suckers really are. And... German space bags are totally superior to the American ones. Amen and amen.
via
So... Promise me a few things:
1. You will try the peanut butter frosting (it's so worth the 2 seconds it takes to make)
2. You will not make fun of me for living under a rock (I can't be the only one who didn't know about the mp3 thing... can I??)
3. You will have a supercool weekend.

LURVE YOU!!!
PS... Thanks for this yesterday (I really can't believe it. Like... I'm in total shock - you guys are freaking amazeballs):
