Because I'm Putting My Big Girl Panties On.

Yo, yo, yo!! It looks like I also have my gangstah panties on today.

Anyway. We're leaving 2 weeks from tomorrow, and I've been pretty upset about it, due to the fact that we had the most epic Eurotrip ever planned (read: 14 countries in 21 days) for July. Obviously, that isn't working out, so I'm a little disappointed.
You know what, though? Today is the day I am sucking it up and putting my big girl panties on. I'm going home, and there's plenty to look forward to. So we're homeless - big deal. It'll all work out.

In light of this whole underwear changing thing, I've decided to put a list together of awesome stuff that I am going to do this summer. I'm not going to lie, I may have stolen this summer list idea from this girl, but I'm giving her credit for it, so it's okay.

ANYWAY. To the list!
This will be easy if we end up in Lincoln, where there is no such thing as a hill. If we end up somewhere else, though, I will shoot myself.
Sorry, I know the caption on that picture may look is inappropriate, but what if I told you Mike is a cowboy? No? That just makes things more awkward? Moving on.
I don't care if we end up living in Nebraska. Colorado is a mere 7 hour drive - I will climb a mountain this summer.

I love camping, and I love bonfires. Combine the two, and I'm a happy camper (no pun intended, but I will take credit for being awesome).

Generally when I camp, it is in a tent (because, you know, I cry when a bug touches me, I am that afraid of them). At least once this summer, though, I will sleep out under the stars, cuddled up next to Husband.

Just because I'm not traveling Europe doesn't mean I won't be traveling at all. There are plenty of places in the US that I've never visited.

This one may not happen, but I would love it if it could. There are places in both Kansas and Nebraska where you can pay to go skydiving, and I'm going to beg Husband to let us do it.

I'll probably add more to this list over the next few weeks, but what about you? What are YOU determined to do this summer?

Love your list, Alyx! I am so sorry that your trip won't work out but aufgeschoben ist nicht aufgehoben, right? I hope you will have an awesome summer. I don't have any specific plans yet but I am pretty sure that we will go camping too.

I'm determined to take Quinn to the pool. Now if I could only find a decently priced swimsuit that would work with my post-preggo body, we'd be good to go.

I love your list, but it's making me tired just thinking of biking that much.

Aw! So sad to hear your trip isn't going to work out but you're coming home! That's so exciting!

If I make a list like this, will you bike for me as well? No way I'm braving the German hills to accomplish that. Unless there's ice cream at the end of the path. Sorry you have to leave Europe with such short notice, but at least you had the chance to experience it?!

Great list! And you should DEFINITELY go skydiving! I've been twice!

That's awesome. Love your list of things. This summer I'd love to go to a few outdoor music festivals, camping, and spend LOTS of days at the beach enjoying the outdoors & sun. :)

14 countries in 21 days?!? That either would have been the most awesome trip ever or the worst since you wouldn't have had time to do everything you wanted in each country. I can't believe you were going to attempt it though!

Your summer list sounds AWESOME!!! You do all that and it will def be a summer to remember! And just imagine the shape you'll be in if you bike 100 miles a week!

I really hope you get to go skydiving. I've been three times (my best guy friend is an instructor, so it's a little cheaper for me to do it) and if I still lived in Memphis, I'd go as often as he'd let me! :o) This summer we are going to attempt hang gliding! Pretty excited!

purdy dern good list. i wish your trip had not fallen thru but i know you'll seize the moments this summer in the US - plus, you haven't been in awhile so i'm sure there's TONS you want to do on top of this epicness. You must sky dive and post the video. I'd like that.

I am neither into riding horses or cowboys - but the rest of this list is pretty good!

I want to discover Canada more. This country is so awesome for four months out of the year - I am determined to explore it before I am forced back into hibernation.

Oh and I'd also like to drop 10 pounds. That would be swell too.

Your list is top notch! But I'm really curious now, in metres or feet, how tall are you?

I love your summer list!

You've just inspired me to make one, that way I get the most out of my summer!

Don't wanna end up like the buzzards on The Jungle Book, "What do you wanna do?" "I don't know what do you wanna do?"

lol, yes I just referenced a Disney movie.

What a bummer about the move, but I'm so happy you found the silver lining. :) I love this list! I'd create one, but we'll be packing and getting ready for a move early next year so it'll be pretty boring. Next year. :)

Oh, I'm pouting for you right now. Your trip sounds like it would have been amazing. But I am so impressed with your positive attitude. I love the stuff on your list! I think I may want to steal a couple, especially the sleeping under the stars part (though I'm terrified of mosquitoes feasting on me all night..maybe I'll just sleep outside in winter? :) I can't wait to hear if you go skydiving. I really really want to/am petrified to. Maybe you'll encourage me to do that one, too!

Have a wonderful Monday! I hope you enjoy the last of your time in Germany!!!

But I love your attitude!

I am looking forward to a vacation on the East Coast! Weeee! :)

My goal: learn to swim with my face in the water. I'm terrible at it, so it's going to take a lot of effort. You can skydive in GA, too! I went a few years ago!

I love your aspirations - they do seem quite realistic (I can't imagine how toned your legs will be after all that biking)!

I wish you the best time ever :)

ahhh super bummer about the cancelled trip! maybe you could do 14 states in 21 days? rooadddtrippp!!

one of my summer goals is to visit some states and stop hating on the USA! lol...of course, im also planning a trip to ireland in august sooo im not sure how well im sticking to that plan.

also, i like all your plans except skydiving. the only reason i want to skydive is because i feel like i *should* want to skydive....butttt notgonnalie, im a total wimp. considering one of my greatest fears is dying in a plane crash (morbid i know!) i might be able to get over it by just jumping out of one...butttt, ill passs! lol! but you should TOTALLY do it! hahaha.

yaay for positive 'tudes though!

Congrats on the new panties!! haha You always crack me up. Say hi to my cousin Brianna if you're in Omaha -- you two would LOVE each other. Love your summer to-do list too :)

OK so your list inspired me to create my own. Except....yours is better. I should have just copied and pasted yours. That would have been easier.

Why isn't your Europe trip working out??

That bonfire is awesome. Skydiving - one day I am afraid to do but want to!

I'm so happy you made a list as well! I love your idea of going somewhere new. I think the summer is a perfect time to visit new places and try new activities.

That's too bad that your trip got canceled but glad to see that you are optimistic about coming back to the states! Your summer list looks like a whole lot of fun! I don't know if I will be doing anything to dangerous or crazy this summer but I def. want to do some hiking and lots of swimming.

I'm determined to travel a lot more this summer, I have all of France, Italy and Spain just sitting here to explore (and yeah, Germany too!).
I can't wait to see all the fun things you get up to back in the good ol' U S of A

Unknown said...

I vote for a trip to Arizona... Where you CAN ride a horse, visit somewhere new (me!), we'll make a bonfire, and you can bike wherever you want to. Just sayin.... ;)
