Five Ways to Use Pregnancy to your Advantage

Happy Monday!

As mentioned yesterday, I am giving away feature ad space for this here blog for the month of January. If you're interested in winning that crap, you can enter here.

Now onto bloggy business. As you [hopefully] have figured out by now, I am growing a creature in mah belly. As you may or may not know, there are many ways to "milk" being pregnant. If you are a noble person who would never even consider using your soon-to-be alien baby to your advantage, you should probably just stop reading.
It's not my fault if you didn't listen to that warning.

5. Expecting Mothers parking spaces. So what if I'm only 12 weeks along? That parking spot is as close as the handicapped one, and I'm feeling mighty lazy.

4. It's okay... I'm eating for two. Yeah, I know that you only really need 300 extra calories a day to accommodate the little rascal, but this is a great excuse to use when you're shoving two quarter pounders and a large fry down your throat.

3. Skittles, tacos, chocolate, mac 'n cheese, and popsicles for breakfasst? Yes, please. Oh, all this stuff is bad for me? It's okay, baby is practically forcing me to eat it. Wow, these pregnancy cravings really getcha.

2. I don't want to go... all of a sudden I'm feeling very nauseous. What? I haven't had morning sickness at all this entire pregnancy? Well, it's made a very sudden appearance, and it will probably last exactly 2.5 hours (that's the exact length of the meeting I'm missing? what a coincidence...).

1. Honey... will you get that for me? I can't move, I'm just so tired, and I just barely got comfortable, and you know how hard that is for me right now. Besides, baby just wants me to sit here and relax while you get me a big ole bowl of mint chocolate chip ice cream. You're the best, babe.

And now for your reading pleasure...

Yo, yo, yo - her name is Amanda.
She has a blog that is cooler than a panda.
She is really super crafty
and her blog will surely make you laugh....ty.
She makes cool things and she sells them in a shop,
her blog will make you want to never stop...
reading.
which is awesome because she is also a writer.
she writes poetry and you wouldn't wanna fight her
(in a poetry battle or anything else.... because she's awesome... and now I'll let her speak for herself.)
My name is Amanda, and I'm the chica behind Dragonflight Dreams (both blog and shop). I freelance full-time as a graphic designer here in Austin TX, and pursue screenprinting and blogging in my off-time, if there is such a thing. :) My interests span a pretty wide range, but include: design, photography, screenprinting, cooking, reading, playing piano, movies, game nights with friends, hanging out with my boyfriend and puppy, daydreaming about dragons and flying, learning to sew, fashion (as I see it/like it), and more. Come by and say hi!

But first... you could be the owner of some BRAND NEW AWESOME POINTS (500 to be exact)!!! With the answer to one simple question (you can even choose which question you answer, the answers can be found on her "about" page. If you're feeling especially ambitious, you can answer both for double points):

1. What is Amanda's dog's name?

OR

2. What are two things Amanda loves?

Your #1 "Honey will you get that for me"...I use that one over and over again. And he just keeps getting it lol. That's a major perk of being preggers!

Her dog is called Sienna and some things she loves are... my boyfriend, my puppy, my mom, my sisters, my friends here in ATX, dragons, flying, books (particularly fantasy and sci-fi), design, screenprinting, purple, WordPress, chocolate, my iPhone, my iMac, freelancing, clothes, sweet tea, 80-degree weather, trying new recipes from cookbooks, pajamas, lace, the ocean, reading inspiring blogs by other crafty & creative folks, skinny jeans, red shoes, taking pictures, Etsy treasuries, Project Runway, Fringe, all sorts of crime dramas (Castle, White Collar, NCIS, NCIS:LA, Criminal Minds, etc.), Mythbusters, vacations, empanadas, flowers, making things, hammocks…

Does that get me a gajillion bonus points or have you figured out that I just copied and pasted? :P

Your list was hilarious, however I can't believe that there is an expectant mothers car space in America! Crazy!

OMG that list is hilarious and one I'll be sure to keep in mind if I ever find myself preggers ;)

Amanda's dog's name is Sienna (and what a cutie she is!), and she also loves red shoes and 80 degree weather (which happen to be 2 of my favorite things, too!).

The parking spots are THE best. Take full advantage of it.

The parking spaces are total wins! In elementary school our PE teachers used to tell us to park at the back so older people could have the spots and we could walk and help our hearts. 1) ya right, a short walk into the grocery store is not going to help and 2) if I get a front row spot it's called my lucky day and who just passes out thier lucky days

LOVE all the pregnancy stuff! Laughed at every one lol! I especially like anything related to the food lol!

1. Sienna
2. Her puppy and boyfriend

I DID feel nauseated quite a bit, and sometimes, it would come on suddenly and I'd be all "Honey, I need a glass of water NOW". Usually he'd grab it, but one time he felt the need to mention that I was experiencing a stomach problem, not a leg problem, and could probably get it myself... :)

Oh, and Amanda's dog is Sienna and she loves screenprinting and sweet tea. Amanda, not the dog. I don't know what Sienna loves.

Girl. pregnancy only lasts a few months... milk it! Anything that makes your life righter when you're growing a creature is totally worth it. Even if you do eat more than they tell you that you should, because by the 3rd trimester, you'll eat 2 bites of something and be stuffed.

Oh, and for awesome points... you know I love those... Amanda's dog's name is Sienna, and Amanda loves lace and red shoes.

You better take advantage of every available perk - you mommy's to be deserve it!

:)

Might as well milk it while you can! haha

bookmarked. i MUST remember this when i'm pregnant. but i'm sure it would be hard to NOT pull the "i'm eating for 2" card. and thank goodness i'll have an excuse for being antisocial.

I borderline love that you refer to your unborn child as a creature or an alien. Because that's excatly what I'll be doing if I ever decided to grow a mini person myself. =)

What, people don't use pregnancy to their advantage? For shame...

Lol I know they say eat healthy blah blah blah but I fully expect myself to eat a mass amount of ice cream when I'm pregnant. It's the only time it's WELCOME to gain weight. Also, Sienna.

Alyx you're like my favorite person I've never met. & if I was ever to have a baby I would so use the Expectant Mother parking the MOMENT I found out I was pregnant.

I feel like I need to ask Izzy to knock me up...

We don't have expectant mother parking here =-( That makes me sad.

Not gonna lie, your ways of using pregnancy to your advantage are amusing. What do you mean all that food is bad for you? I probably shouldn't (but will continue to) eat it on a regular basis.

Miki {Becoming What I Always Was} said...

baby baby baby baby baby! That is so wonderful. I use my friends pregnancies to my advantage, so I definitely will milk my own. I think you deserve it for growing an alien.

Nikkiana said...

You're too funny! I know when/if I ever get knocked up, I'll be milking it for all that it's worth too!

hahah! you're a better woman than I am! I use those excuses when I AM NOT PREGNANT! Like i'm lazy and just park close because I don't like walking. I am so excited to actually have an excuse for those things when I am pregnant! Cute blog!

I'm pretty sure the fact that you're growing a human being is the best excuse ever to get the husband to do things for you. I mean, that's his child in there. he is forever in debt to you.

haha you are too cute. take full advantage!

You're a funny lady!!! Those pregnancy parking spots in our town are also for mothers with young children. Sometimes when I'm in a hurry, I try to calculate if a 10-year-old still counts as "young children". :o)

Her dogs name is Sienna and she likes Fringe (me too!!) and hammocks!

cynthia said...

Love your list! I'm keeping it handy for when my time comes. ;)
Especially #1 haha

Courtney B said...

AAAAAAHHHHH!!! Where the crap have I been?! You're PREGNANT?? Yay I am sooo happy and excited for you!! Congrats :)
And girl... MILK IT! Because pretty soon when you're doing these things it's not cause you're milking it... it's because you really do need it! And that's so depressing for some reason, ha ha!
Annnnnd... I love those expecting mother parking spots but it makes me VIOLENT when I see someone parking there who is clearly not pregnant. Like a man. I just want to walk up and kick him between the legs... then waddle my 33 week prego body away :)

jessica said...

Haha um I think I'm guilty of all of these. I've also claimed that my tail bone was hurting just so I could get the chair I wanted, among other things that shall not be named here in public :)

You are hilarious and I'm totally going to milk the crap out of pregnancy!

Sienna is the super cute pit-lab puppy!
And I think you have every right to use that baby to your advantage, after all, you're hosting it, and it's stealing your essence! :P
