Favorite Things Friday

Happy Friday!!!

Hope you all are doing well and are ready for the weekend - I know I'm ready! We're going to be spending the weekend re-packing our stuff and getting it ready to move into our house on... MONDAY!!! So excited.

So anyway. Onto the favorite things this week.

1. My katniss braid. Seriously. This thing might replace the top knot as my go-to hairstyle. Since so many of you have asked for it... here's a tutorial. It's not the best, but it shows you how to do it.

2. Birthday cake. You guys, I love cupcakes. You know this. I also love birthday cake. Which would explain why I ate five slices last night and made myself sick. It was bad, and I learned my lesson - never eat more than three slices of that frosted goodness. And thank you, dear sister-in-law for having a birthday and letting me eat half of your cake by myself.

3. My nephew. Ummm really, could this kid be any cuter? He gave me a hug and let me cuddle and kiss him. He also threw a tennis ball at my face, but let's focus on the positive, shall we? Great. I stole this picture from my sister-in-law simply because the kid won't sit still for more than a millisecond.

4. Thrifting. Oh my goodness, I am so glad to be back where there are thrift stores everywhere. Remember this chambray shirt? $2.50. It may not fit perfectly, but that's a 2-minute fix with my trusty sewing machine. Boom.

5. These bootiful peoples. Let me tell you my favorite thing about each one as I go down the line. That way you will know exactly why you should clickety click.

Shelby is such a sweetheart - she always has a kind word, and she is so upbeat and optimistic. Not to mention her adorable little boy and the fact that she is one absolutely gorgeous and glowing momma-to-be!

Jennifer is hands-down one of the most genuine people that I have met in blogland. I love that she is so down-to-earth and kind. You know what else? She was my blog angel last month, and she was a dang good one! So supportive and kind!

I love how family-oriented Brooke is (and holy moly, does she have a big family)! It's very obvious that she is a caring and selfless person who always has a kind word, and I love that she can show that through her writing and her blog!

Georgina is smart, friendly, and fun! Her blog has got a little of everything, and if you ever have a question, she's quick to answer! I love how dedicated she is to her work, her family, and life in general!

So there you have it - I hope you check each one of those ladies out, they truly are awesome, and I love reading each of their blogs!

What are you guys doing this weekend? Anyone have any fun plans?

On German Cereal & WIWW.

Linking up here.

shirt, cami, leggings: WalMart sandals: Target

Hey guys!!

Normally... leggings are not pants. Actually... always. But yesterday I sort of made an exception. Mostly because I was wearing a tunic-type shirt that covered my butt. Oh, and the fact that I didn't leave the house probably helped me to be a little more okay with this look.

And... I'm not a huge fashionista or anything, but I did a super fast tutorial on the braided top knot, and you can see it below. It's pretty much perfect for lazy butts like myself.

In other news... I have a formal complaint that I would like to launch against The Land of Lederhosen.
Their cereal tastes like cardboard.

I'm not talking about the Muesli - that stuff is delicious, and I don't think that anyone can beat Germany in the Müsli department... Especially when it comes to the chocolate kind.

Anyway. About a week ago, I decided that I really missed American cereal, and went to the grocery store to see what I could find. Kellog's cereal was about 5 EUR a box, and I refused to pay that much for a box of cereal. Then... something caught my eye. A bag of wannabe fruit loops. I was desperate, so I decided to grab them.

BIG MISTAKE. I got home, so excited to eat those puppies. Grabbed a bowl out of the cupboard, filled it to the brim with the cereal, and poured the milk over it. I took a spoon out of the drawer and started stuffing my face. Immediately, I ran to the sink and spit everything out. I checked the bowl to make sure I hadn't accidentally somehow poured paper into my bowl... Nope. This crap was supposed to pass for a breakfast food? WHO ARE THEY KIDDING???

I mean, honestly. This is the same country that eats Nutella, schnitzel, spaghetti eis, and bratwurst. HOW COULD THEY POSSIBLY THINK THAT THIS CEREAL TASTES GOOD??? Ugh.

Moral of the story: Super processed/sugary/bad for you breakfast is easier to find, cheaper, and more delicious in the states. Soon enough, I will resume my 24/7 cereal habits, and I am super happy about that. Maybe a little too happy, considering the fact that I don't have dental insurance.

As Per Your Request - Instructions/Tutorial

Okay, peeps! I've had a few people who were curious about the no heat headband curls that I talked about here. Because of that, I've decided to just make my own tutorial video (which is now a work in progress - I'll finish it in the morning when I wake up, and post it tomorrow) and write up some step by step instructions for those of you who want to try it tonight. [Please excuse the awful pics, they're screenshots from the video.

Instructions:
1. After showering and towel-drying your hair, gather the following: a headband, anti-frizz serum, and hairspray.
2. Part your hair where you normally do when you wear it down.
3. Put the headband on "hippy style."
4. Apply anti-frizz serum to the ends of your hair.
5. Take a section at the front of your hair, and wrap it around the headband.
6. Continue to do this with equal-sized sections of hair until you have one last section at the back of your head. Take that section and wrap it around the headband as many times as you can. [Ewww... My arm looks like someone else's! Weird.]
7. Tuck everything into the headband. No strays!

8. Spray your hair with hairspray, and get some beauty sleep!
9. When your hair is completely dry in the morning, gently pull the headband away from your head while unrolling the hair. If all is well, your curls should look like this (old pic, sorry... can't go into the future!):

Edit!!! HERE'S THE VIDEO!
